My name’s Nadia Javed, I’m half Indian half Pakistani, born in Ealing Hospital. I’m a self-taught guitarist and I write songs and sing in my band The Tuts – a mash up of pop/punk. After being subject to racism and bullying at school I turned to music as a creative outlet. I graduated from Brunel University with a BSc in Psychology but soon realized that I wanted to have a career as a musician. I’ve toured the UK, Europe with my band and played festivals around the country. In order to survive financially I kept a boring day job on the side (in pharmaceuticals), so in some ways, I’ve lived a double life of being a corporate bitch by day and rock star by night. I have since quit and am doing music full time. Yay.
