Tell us about IGK!
IGK was created by four world-renowned hair stylists, Aaron Grenia, Franck Izquierdo, Leo Izquierdo, and Chase Kusero, who don’t follow trends, they create them. Our cutting-edge products are developed by our stylists who know how their clients want to look. They work perfectly for her, because it’s the stuff she needs — plus the stuff she never knew she wanted. It’s never about getting her hair “under control”, it’s about expressing herself in a brand new way.
You’ve been labelled one of the must-have cult hair product brands, what makes IGK hair products so different?
We wanted to create a new way to do hair and be able to spread it across the beauty industry by leading from each major U.S. Market — Miami, Los Angeles and New York. We are all about creating trends and going against the norm. Also our products are vegan and cruelty-free as well as free of gluten, parabens and sulfates.
Your brand is based in New York, Miami and LA – why?
Our founders all have deep roots within the hair industry, and after working for another hair brand, decided to do their own venture – hence the birth of IGK Salons. The first locale was at the Shore Club in Miami Beach (it has since moved to the SLS in Miami Beach). Next came the New York salon at the Dream Hotel and finally in Los Angeles in a private bungalow on the border of West Hollywood.
The are the cities where culture begins and where people fall in and out of love with trends before the rest of the world even knows what they are. IGK is what happens when these three cities come together to create something completely new. This mentality is infused in every product.
What hair product should every girl have her in the bag?
Depends on her hair type but a good go-to is our Beach Club Texture Spray. It can be used on wet and dry hair and gives the most perfect texture, volume and shine.
HOW TO USE YOUR IGK HAIR #BEACHCLUB SPRAY
Step One
Finally, a salt-free beach spray that doesn’t dry out your hair. IGK’s formula gets its power from glycerin, which hydrates and delivers piecey texture without any added weight. Firstly, twist small sections of hair and apply for touchable breeze-blown waves.
Step Two
For extra volume, apply at roots and massage in with your fingers.
Step Three
Then to add texture and volume, blow dry your hair. This technique can used on either wet or dry hair!
