Being a maker and creator is what makes me happy. Printing has always been a big passion for me so I was determined to turn it into a job. It has been fun and at times really hard but I am so proud of how Mabel and Bird has grown.
Where do you get the inspiration for your pieces from?
I draw as much as I can. I tend to fall in love with an idea and explore it endlessly until I fall in love again.
What attracted you to working with textiles?
Printing textiles allows me to create so many things, I love interiors but I also love making purses. I hope to add paper range this year.
Do you have a favourite piece from your current collection?
I think I will alway be in love with my clouds. I am working on a new collection at the moment so maybe a new favourite is not far away.
What do you love most about having your own brand, what's been the highlight so far?
Working for yourself is a roller coaster but the buzz you get when people want to buy or stock the textiles you create makes it all worth it!
How would you describe a Mabel and Bird customer?
I think mabel and bird customer is someone who appreciates quality handmade, simple, modern textiles.
What's next for the brand, what do you have planned for the future?
I want to develop my brand with more one off pieces as well as a range of paper product, but mostly the plan is to keep printing and growing.
