NYFW is all over once again for another season, and as the city that kicks off the fashion month it didn’t disappoint. Hot mugshot man became a model, political statements were everywhere and Paris Hilton sucked the youth from Sofia Ritchie’s bone marrow in an attempt to remain relevant. King Kylie also wore a peach wig, big news.
Anyway, back to the clothes babes- here’s what we are expecting to be big news trend wise this Autumn/Winter.
Mellow Yellow
Diane Von Furstenberg
Jason Wu
I’m just mad about Saffron, Saffron’s mad about meeee….for those in the audience too young to remember the 00’s Gap ad blasting that song, yellow came through as one of the key trends for AW17 at NYFW thanks to Diane Von Furstenberg, Calvin Klein and Jason Wu among others getting yolky with it. Think ochre, canary and banana layered together to create tonal looks providing sass to the colder months. Note to self, Big Bird just became our legit style icon.
Space Odyssey
Prabal Gurung
Sies Marjan
Sies Marjan
Sies Marjan
Making his solo show debut, Sander Lak brought an abundance of print, colour and texture to his Sies Marjan collection, the most hyped runway at NYFW this Feb, with pure molten joy provided in the form of pink metallic thread biker jackets, form fitted and pearly separates. Others looking to the sky included slinky alien invader high neck dresses at Prabal Gurung, and Eric Schlösberg referencing Ziggy Stardust with high-shine flares – is there life on Mars?
Check Mate
Victoria Beckham
Public School
Jeremy Scott
Ever since our eyes clocked Cher Horowitz clad in plaid, we have been a fan of checks, so their catwalk dominance next season makes us super happy – knee socks at the ready. King of convenience fashion Jeremy Scott clashed citrus shade grid prints on maxi silhouettes, while Victoria Beckham and Public School both featured tartan across structured outerwear for a grown-up take on the trend.
