Here at Skinnydip HQ we love supporting Young British Talent. Each month we feature creative design work from fashion illustrators to graphic designers. We want to give you a platform to showcase your creative flare and ask our Young British Talent of the month to illustrate their favourite Skinnydip products. This month we chat to Rebecca Gibson and find out the inspiration behind her illustrations!

How long have you been drawing for?
I've been drawing pretty much for as long as I can remember. I've always been the creative one in the family and always doodle on something. I got back into the full swing of this in my last year at university where I specialised in Illustration which reignited my passion for it and made me want to push it from a hobby to something bigger.

Whats the inspiration behind your illustrations?
I take inspiration from anything and everything. Living in London helps a lot as there is always something new to see and do as its such an inspiring city.

Whats your favourite illustration to date and why?
My favourite illustration has to still be one I did at university of war planes. It was a project to rebrand a fashion label and I chose to illustrate based on the Bermuda Triangle. Im fascinated with the myths behind the Bermuda Triangle and based my illustrations around this using biro for a serious of t-shirts. The collection features war planes and ‘sea monsters’ but my favourite still has to be the war plane, it wins me over every time!

Describe your personal style
I think I have a relatively classic style. I tend to end up being in all black by accident but I love a big, colourful or sparkly necklace to brighten it up. I’m a major magpie!

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In 5 years I hope to be illustrating full time and to have worked on some bigger projects mainly in the fashion industry.

Who was the last person you followed on instagram?
@illustrationst by Sophie Truant. I love her use of neon sticky dots in classic line drawings of things like wild flowers.

Whats your favourite SS14 Skinnydip item?
It has to be the Birdie Clutch bag. As I mentioned, I’m such a magpie and this has the perfect amount of sparkle with the added extra of neon perspex! This would definitely do the trick of brightening up my all black style!
