Next up on our monthly Young British Talent feature we have Hanna Kristina, a 23 year old photographer from Kent. Splitting her time between London and Kent Hanna studied photography at the University of the Creative arts. We caught up with Hanna below...

How long have you been a photographer?
I first became interested in photography when I was sixteen when visiting my family in Sweden – I used my mum’s camera to capture the little fishing town we were staying in. I would say I started shooting fashion properly when I was eighteen so around five years ago now.

What has been your favourite shoot to date?
This is such a hard question, but probably my editorial Lost Summer for online magazine Keep the Wolf. The team and I shot in the Kent countryside in the middle of Summer which was just so different from shooting in the City. 

What kind of camera do you use?
For digital I use a Canon 5d mark ii and for analogue I use a Canon AE-1. I also have an Instax Mini which comes in very handy.

What magazines have you shot for?
I have shot for a number of online and print magazines such as Zeum, Noctis, Bricks, Haunt and Girls on Film. I love to interpret their set themes in my own way; I feel it’s a great way to keep creative with your work.

What inspires you?
Natural beauty, femininity, youthfulness, fun…I like to capture candid moments and in-between shots so I like to chat to my models to make them comfortable. I did a project on this for my Final Major Project at uni – a printed zine named ‘Girls’ which you can view on my website. 

What’s your favourite item from the Skinnydip SS14 collection?
It would have to be the Pineapple iPhone case – so tropical and summery!

Who was the last person you chose to follow on Instagram?
@sebastiansauve as I recently shot him at LCM SS15 in the KTZ show for Noctis magazine. I tagged him and he retweeted my image which was pretty cool.

Who’s your photography idol?
Gosh so many for different reasons…Nirrimi for her storytelling, Paolo Roversi for his aesthetics, Tim Walker for his creativity, Julia Trotti for her style, and many other young photographers like myself.

If you were invisible for a day you would…
…sneak onto an aeroplane to somewhere far away and exotic!
